It's Not a Meaningless piece of Paper

So apparently there was a study done on how much it costs to be a gay couple. when I first saw the story and read everything I KNEW I had to post a blog about it. It shows what that "piece of paper", also known as a marriage license, really means for a seriously committed gay couple. in this study it was found that the extra expenses incurred over a lifetime could total as much as $467, 562! That total is MUCH more than the average straight couple.

A lady named Tara Siegel and a man named Ron Lieber placed a hypothetical gay couple in in different scenarios and looked at Social Security, Health Benefits, and Income Taxes among the VERY long list of items where gay couples face costs that straight married partners don't.

The cost of living for an average gay couple would be $467,562. But its still at $41,196 for a gay couple with significantly better health insurance, plus lower taxes another costs. Damn near all the extra expenses would be gone if same sex marriage was legalized. So to everyone who says "It's just a piece of paper, it doesn't matter", Yes it does matter! It matters GREATLY!

Later, Dolls!
